Podcast Production & Launch
Getting Your Podcast From Idea To Reality
Launching a Podcast takes a lot of preparation.
Here's our go-to list of everything needed to start releasing episodes.
Let's talk to discuss your project!
Core Idea. What's your podcast about, who will host it and will there be any guests? How regular do you want to release episodes?
Name. Find something that catches attention and describes the content and style of your podcast, while being catchy and memorable.
Intro. Short introduction to your podcast, that captures you and your idea and convinces listeners to stay for more.
Outro. Convince listeners to subscribe to your podcast and socials, and leave them wanting more. Want them to interact? Ask them!
Edit. Bring everything together. Cut out anything your listener won't want to hear, and mix and master to make things smooth.
Hosting. Get your podcast to streaming services to increase listenership. Pick the right platform for good statistics and RSS-Feeds.
Website. A place to collect all episodes and information your listeners might want, including events, blog posts, streams, videos, etc.
Transcripts. To make the most out of podcast content, transcripts offer great SEO material for your website
Target Audience. Know who you're trying to reach and who would want to listen. Base your content and marketing around analysis.
Trailer. How would you describe your podcast to a friend or acquaintance? What makes your podcast special, and why should people listen?
Music. Most podcasts have an Intro & Outro Track, that represents the podcast's style. Energetic? Contemplative? Futuristic? Fun? Get the vibe right!
Content. Record with your listeners in mind. What would they want to know? Are they in for a fun conversation, or are they looking for information?
Cover Art. A visual representation of your podcast, that expresses your content and style. When browsing, listeners might see the artwork before listening - be eyecatching!
Socials. Listeners want to stay up to date, give them somewhere to go to! Use your socials to find new listeners and benefit from the already established reach of your guests.
Shownotes. Each episode is released with shownotes to present the content and add links to info and guests.
Marketing. Make a plan of how you want to reach more listeners. Let your listeners spread the word and make use of social media!
The Podcasting hemisphere is highly contested. What started out as Do-It-Yourself audioblogging, available to anyone wanting to express their personal passion or profession, has turned into one of the biggest disruptive mediums of the internet. The top players in streaming and podcasting, like Spotify, Apple Podcast, etc., are dishing out million-dollar exclusive deals left and right in the hopes of increasing their number of paid users. Take a look further down the spectrum, and you can be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of podcasts around. According to Edison Research and Triton Digital in 2019, there are currently over 800.000 active podcasts online, with over 54 million episodes available for listening at any time.
Launching a podcast takes, time, dedication and creativity. Rushing into publishing a first episode, will only lead to missed opportunities. To be successful a podcast needs to claim its own indivdual niche, whether that be the focus and topic of your podcast, or simply the host themself. Podcasters need to know their target audience. New Podcasts need to learn from their already-established competition, and learn from their mistakes.
